About me, my approach and values

When I was a teenager I had lots of questions about life and "normality". An avid consumer of books and knowledge I wanted to understand how to "be normal". As a result - for years I was struggling with my mental health and tried lots of medical ways to help myself. Things were mostly the same until I found therapy, and most importantly - the right kind of therapy for me.

This doesn't mean that it was a magical cure of all my mental health struggles, but having someone right to listen to me try to put my life together, helped me understand who I am and what is important to me, what sort of beliefs were holding me back. It was incredibly helpful in order to move forward into my adult life.

As a recovering perfectionist I always strive to accept imperfection and living authentically. Likewise, as a professional, I also try to be as authentic as therapeutically helpful with a dash of whimsy and occasional forgetting of "that one specific word that I think really fits here" (bilingual struggles...)

My counselling approach

My counselling approach is based on integrating Adlerian theory with other approaches in a way that suits your needs.

I usually start by encouraging to explore your story and current life situation. Together we will try to connect the dots and how you could move towards more authentic and fulfilling life.

Part of this process may involve creative approaches (drawing, writing, whatever creative ways you feel comfortable expressing yourself), some trauma informed body work (body scans, noticing body sensations, gentle movement), radical acceptance (roughly - what can you do with what you are given).

Occasionally, I may offer some exercises to do at home or share some resources.

I have extensive experience working in the NHS and have a strong understanding of body-mind connection as well as continuously strive to expand this knowledge through CPD.

If you are struggling with disability, chronic pain or other health conditions, I will adapt to your needs as much as I can and together we will create gentle ways you can support your mental health whilst being kind to your body.

Depending on your experience with counselling, ability to attend and financial situation the sessions can be as frequent as you need.
